Week 02: PROTECT

If you needed to, could you PROTECT?
I need to be able to run, jump, climb…and fight if necessary.

NEVER ZERO // ISSUE N0. 033

week 02:

Protect.

Last week, I talked about TRAINING and why it has been a non-negotiable for me in my life. If you missed WEEK ONE of the TRAIN, PROTECT, PROVIDE series, you can catch up here ➞

While TRAINING has always been a part of my life, this concept of PROTECT is something that has evolved for me over the years.

THE ABILITY TO PROTECT IS A STATE OF READINESS.

It’s a state of being prepared to act, defend, and safeguard not just oneself but those we hold dear and the values we stand for.

I don’t TRAIN with the hope of confrontation but with the intention of always being ready—ready to run, jump, climb, lift, and, yes, fight if absolutely necessary. It’s a readiness that goes beyond brute physicality; it’s a mental and emotional state that allows me to act decisively when the stakes are high.

My family has been through a lot. I am sure yours has as well. We are all dealing with something, and not all threats are going to be physical. Not all threats will stand out. But all threats will require you to be the fittest, strongest, healthiest version of yourself so that those around you can lean on you when times are tough.

This isn’t about seeking out trouble but about ensuring that I will always be ready if trouble finds me. Trouble isn’t always (and actually rarely for most) in the form of a fight either—trouble can be your child running into the road, a fence needing to be jumped, or an object stuck on someone you love. I TRAIN so I am not lacking in strength, agility, or conditioning to do the job. I TRAIN so that I can PROTECT, even though I wish I never have to.

The world, now more than ever, needs protectors—individuals ready and able to guard the safety, integrity, and well-being of those around them.

REMEMBER, THE FITNESS TO PROTECT IS NOT JUST ABOUT MUSCLE; IT’S ABOUT ALWAYS BEING READY TO BE A FORCE OF SAFETY IN AN UNCERTAIN WORLD.

Next week, we dive into the final pillar: PROVIDE. Until then, remember to TRAIN so that you can PROTECT.

YOU ARE THE AVERAGE OF THE PEOPLE YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH.
Share this knowledge with those in your life who are also driven to TRAIN, PROTECT, PROVIDE.
Together, we can build a brighter future by helping each other become the best version of ourselves.
